About The Position

The Main Machine Operator is responsible for safely producing quality parts by operating production equipment. This role involves setting up and operating machinery such as Stamping Presses, Perforating Presses, Expanders, CTL, Lasers, Turret Presses, Tube Forming Equipment, and Tig Welders. Level 1 operators focus on running one piece of equipment and demonstrating proficiency in setups within their department. Level 2 operators are responsible for safely running two pieces of production equipment in close proximity.

Requirements

2+ years of experience in machine operation, set up, or mechanical position within a manufacturing environment.
High level of mechanical aptitude.
Understanding of quality requirements and ISO 9001:2015 procedures.
Knowledge of department procedures and applicable system transactions.
Ability to read and understand blueprints, diagrams, and work instructions.
Knowledge of company policies, shop and safety rules.
Knowledge of the care and use of inspection devices and tools.
Ability to perform basic shop floor mathematics.
Exceptional attention to details.
Strong motivation and high energy.
Ability to work independently or with a team.
Ability to perform repetitive bending, kneeling, and lift cumbersome and/or heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).

Responsibilities

Perform set up and machine operations duties safely.
Read and interpret drawings and routings to determine material size, type, and quantity.
Make adjustments to setups to produce quality parts.
Check parts for defects from previous operations.
Ensure move tickets are completely filled out and attached to loads.
Report hours and production quantities in the applicable system.
Use safe procedures for handling, stacking, and moving material.
Perform hourly and first piece quality inspections and track material.
Adhere to standard operating procedures.
Comply with all health and safety procedures.
Train other employees.
Maintain basic housekeeping of the work area.
Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Department Assistant.
