About The Position

The Main Machine Operator is responsible for safely producing quality parts by operating production equipment. This role involves setting up and operating machinery such as Stamping Presses, Perforating Presses, Expanders, CTL, Lasers, Turret Presses, Tube Forming Equipment, and Tig Welders. Level 1 operators focus on one piece of equipment, while Level 2 operators are proficient in running two pieces of equipment in close proximity. The position requires adherence to safety procedures, quality inspections, and accurate record-keeping.

Requirements

2+ years’ experience in machine operation, set up, or mechanical position within a manufacturing environment.
High level of mechanical aptitude.
Understanding of quality requirements and ISO 9001:2015 procedures.
Knowledge of department procedures and applicable system transactions.
Ability to read and understand blueprints, diagrams, and work instructions.
Knowledge of company policies, shop and safety rules.
Knowledge on the care and use of inspection devices and tools.
Perform basic shop floor mathematics.
Exceptional attention to details.
Strong motivation, high energy and ability to work independently or with a team.
Ability to perform repetitive bending, kneeling, and lift cumbersome and or heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).

Experience working with Lean Manufacturing Principles and Concepts.

Responsibilities

Perform set up and machine operations duties safely.
Read and interpret drawings and routings to determine material and quantity requirements.
Make adjustments to setups to produce quality parts.
Check parts for defects from previous operations.
Ensure move tickets are completely filled out and attached to loads.
Report hours and production quantities in the applicable system.
Use safe procedures for handling, stacking, and moving material.
Perform hourly and first piece quality inspections and track material using appropriate instruments.
Adhere to standard operating procedures.
Comply with all health and safety procedures.
Train other employees.
Maintain basic housekeeping of the work area.
Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Department Assistant.
