SUMMARY Process all incoming mail including the pick-up of mail at the local post office. Sort all incoming for proper distribution. Separation of checks and other forms of payments, running a tape total of all monies received in the mail room and delivery to the Accounting department for processing. Process all outgoing mail including the operation of mail service equipment. Ensure all mail received in the mail is ready for pick-up by 4:30 pm daily. Maintain a proper stock of mailing supplies including, but not limited to, labels, envelopes and FedEx supplies. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Process daily both the incoming and outgoing mail Pick-up mail daily (typically two to three runs) at the post office and prepare the outgoing mail for pick-up by United Mail. Opens, by machine and/or hand, and sorts daily incoming mail. Separation of checks and other forms of payments. Runs a “tape total” all payments received that day and delivers to accounting for processing. Sorts the remainder of mail according to type (i.e. return mail, pleadings, look-up mail, etc.) Prepares the outgoing mail and examines by appearance. Ensures all outgoing mail is addressed to the proper venue (or person) and inserts mail into envelopes. Uses a folder inserter machine when necessary. Sorts Seals and stamps mail using a postage machine and logs the amount of pre-sort mail. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Performs basic data entry taks including, but not limited to, entering complaints when returned from court, processing return mail, entering liens and releases, and entering negative garnishments. Assists with copies and/or file room maintenance in down time. Other duties as requested by a manger or attorney.
