About The Position

This contract Mailroom Clerk role provides coverage for a temporary leave and focuses on supporting a busy mailroom within a multi-tenant office environment. You will handle incoming and outgoing mail and shipments, operate mailroom equipment and software, and deliver reliable, customer-focused service to internal departments and external vendors. The position is well suited to someone who enjoys being on their feet, working in a hands-on role, and collaborating with a variety of teams.

Requirements

  • Ability to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., including one day per week to close.
  • Ability to take a 30-minute lunch break within the scheduled shift.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license with a good driving record to operate the company van as needed.
  • Ability to frequently lift at least 50 pounds independently and support up to 250 pounds using a pallet jack or hand truck.
  • Comfort with frequent walking, climbing stairs, and performing other physical tasks throughout the day.
  • Basic computer skills, including use of electronic mail and word processing applications.
  • Good oral communication skills to interact effectively with coworkers and vendors.
  • Strong customer service skills with a focus on responsiveness and professionalism.
  • Ability to perform minimal administrative and clerical tasks in support of mailroom operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous mailroom or shipping experience is a plus.
  • Experience using various software, such as messaging and spreadsheet applications, is an advantage.
  • Experience with overnight shipping software is highly desirable.
  • Experience in a customer-facing role or in dealing directly with internal clients is beneficial.
  • Expereince in administrative support, reception desk, or general clerical support is helpful.
  • Comfort working in a contract role providing coverage for a temporary leave.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, sort, and distribute in-house mail for employees and multi-tenant office buildings in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Process all outgoing mail in compliance with postal regulations and other carrier or vendor requirements.
  • Receive and process shipments for all departments, ensuring accurate routing and documentation.
  • Operate mailroom equipment such as postage machines, meters, scales, overnight carrier systems, forklifts, pallet jacks, and a company van in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Use overnight carrier software systems and related tools to prepare labels, track shipments, and manage delivery information.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with employees at various levels and with external vendors to coordinate mail and shipping needs.
  • Provide excellent customer service when responding to inquiries, resolving delivery issues, and assisting colleagues with mail and shipping requests.
  • Perform frequent walking, use stairs, and lift packages up to 50 pounds independently, obtaining assistance for heavier items as needed.
  • Follow all mailroom procedures and safety guidelines while maintaining an organized, clean, and efficient work area.
  • Utilize basic computer skills, including email and word processing, to manage documentation and communication related to mailroom operations.
