About The Position

This position plays a key role in supporting the Division of Motor Vehicles by processing a high volume of incoming and outgoing mail—over 22 million pieces annually. The role serves as the primary liaison between DMV units and the State Mail Service Center, ensuring accurate, timely, and secure handling of all mail types, including daily correspondence, titles, registration renewals, license plates, flats, packages, and certified mail.

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a mailroom environment operating and maintaining a variety of equipment such as high-speed mail inserters with inline postage meters, weigh in motion mailing machines, UPS Shipping System, envelope printer and folder.
  • Experience with material handling, both palletized and non-palletized including loading and unloading trucks both manually and with material handling equipment where feasible.
  • Experience processing, sorting and handling mail and packages, both incoming and outgoing with USPS standards
  • Experience working independently under general supervision and being the acting supervisor temporarily over other like kind positions when the supervisor is out of the work area.
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, comfortable working with time-sensitive tasks, and able to perform physically active duties such as walking routes and handling carts.
  • Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills are essential for supporting internal DMV stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Operate mail-processing equipment such as high-speed inserters, weigh-in-motion systems, postage meters, and shipping platforms (UPS/FedEx).
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with legal and operational requirements related to DMV mail delivery.
  • Maintain inventory of mail supplies and envelopes; notify supervisors when reorder points are reached.
  • Assist with equipment upkeep and coordinate service needs with maintenance vendors.
  • Support general material handling tasks, including organizing the mail services area, unloading supplies, and assisting the supply services team as needed.
  • Participate in the safety program, including conducting assigned safety meetings.
