About The Position

The Pharmacy Supervisor is responsible for leading day-to-day operations within the automation area of the pharmacy, ensuring efficient workflow, staff support, and operational excellence. This role provides direct leadership to pharmacy technicians and clerical staff while partnering with pharmacy leadership to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Active Pharmacist (RPh) license required.
Previous leadership or supervisory experience required, preferably in retail pharmacy or a high-volume pharmacy setting.
Experience leading large teams and managing daily operations.
Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
Interest in automation, process optimization, and workflow improvement initiatives.
Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or a PharmD from an accredited school of pharmacy required.
Licensed in the state of applicable state or eligible for reciprocity required.
2 years of work related experience in pharmacy required.
Must have use of both hands, be able to see clearly and read small type such as that on unit-dose medication packages and syringes.
Must be able to speak and be understood by others.
Must be able to hear normal sounds with moderate background noises.

PGY residency experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Supervise and support pharmacy automation operations in a high-volume pharmacy environment.
Provide direct leadership to approximately 20-25 pharmacy technicians and support staff.
Manage daily staffing, workflow distribution, and operational coverage across shifts.
Collaborate with pharmacy leadership to identify and implement workflow enhancements and process improvements.
Ensure departmental productivity, quality standards, and service expectations are met.
Lead and coach team members, providing guidance, training, and performance support.
Maintain a strong presence within operations and assist with hands-on automation activities as needed.
Partner with fellow supervisors to provide seamless coverage across all operating hours.
Makes decisions regarding employment, promotion, discipline, and termination of pharmacy team members in collaboration with Pharmacy Leadership.
Evaluates pharmacy teammate job performances on an annual basis.
Ensures that the pharmacy department adheres to all regulatory bodies including, but not limited to the DEA, the FDA and applicable state Board of Pharmacy.
Oversees pharmacy staffing and scheduling to ensure safe patient care.
Coordinates and integrates interdepartmental and intradepartmental services and participates in various committees.
Ensures that policies and procedures promoting safe and effective use of medications are followed.
Assists in the planning of new and/or revised pharmacy services based on new innovations, technology and/or regulatory changes.
Assesses and improves the performance of the pharmacy services provided.
Provides an ongoing assessment of care and services provided through organizational processes.
Coordinates the implementation plan and supports decisions made by the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
Initiates the proper training of pharmacy teammates in area of responsibilities.
Designs, recommends, monitors and evaluates patient specific pharmacotherapeutic regimens.
Supervises daily preparation and dispensing of all pharmaceuticals.
