Maiden Switcher 1st Shift
About The Position
The Switcher position is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a tractor-trailer or bobtail truck in accordance with state laws. This role involves frequent sitting for extended periods, loading/unloading finished product, inspecting loads, transporting loads to destinations, and completing necessary paperwork. The position also requires proactive maintenance of the truck and trailers and compliance with all company policies and procedures, including safety and housekeeping. Duties may be expanded upon and additional duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- CDL Required
- Minimum of two years experience as a Truck Driver required
- Minimum of two years experience as a Switcher /Yard Jockey required
- Extensive knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations
Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate a tractor-trailer or bobtail truck in accordance with state laws.
- Load/unload or assist in loading/unloading finished product in or from trailer.
- Inspect load in trailer to ensure it is properly loaded and it is the correct load before leaving.
- Verify count while truck is being unloaded, as allowed by customers.
- Transport load by required route to proper destination while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Obtain shipping bill of lading and necessary signatures and return completed paperwork to shipping office.
- Complete daily timecard, driver logs, and all other work reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Report any maintenance items to supervision immediately.
- Be proactive in the maintenance of the truck and trailers.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
