About The Position

As the Mahj Room Associate you will be responsible for setting up the four automatic tables, turning them on, and preparing them for Mahj Jongg play. You will also arrange snacks and drinks and ensure the room is fully set and ready at least 15 minutes before scheduled play begins. During the three-hour session, they will assist with light clean-up as needed. At the end of the shift, they will make sure the room is clean, organized, and properly set up for the next day’s use. This is an hourly, non-exempt position with no benefits package. The Jewish Community Center is an equal-opportunity employer (EOE). It is expected that the Youth Director/Camp Chai Associate Director will be a team player as part of the JCC Professional Staff. He/she is expected to be aware of the JCC Mission Statement and work within the frameworks of that mission.

Requirements

Have a pleasant and professional appearance, manner, tone, and attitude.
Extend a pleasant welcome to everyone that enters the J Mahj Room.
Keep personal phone usage at a minimum and focus on members and guests (no earbuds).
Must be a problem solver.
Be dependable and have excellent communication skills.
Take initiative and require little supervision.
Ability to learn how to use and troubleshoot automatic Mahj Tables.
Key remains at JCC when room is not being used.
Must be 21 or older.
Keep to Kosher standards.

Nice To Haves

Mahj Jongg experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Arranging snacks and drinks.
Ensuring the room is fully set and ready at least 15 minutes before scheduled play begins.
Assisting with light clean-up as needed during the three-hour session.
Making sure the room is clean, organized, and properly set up for the next day’s use at the end of the shift.
Maintaining a concierge level customer service for guest and members in J Mahj Room.
Following the assigned work schedule.
Leaving a list of follow-up or questions for Supervisor if necessary.
