This is a professional position responsible for conducting hearings and preparing findings and recommendations for the referring judge’s consideration. The role involves receiving judge’s Orders of Referral, conducting legal research, and preparing for hearings. The Magistrate will conduct hearings in accordance with applicable laws and rules of procedure, review motions and case law submitted by attorneys, and consider/analyze information/evidence presented at hearings to make legal determinations and submit written findings and recommendations to judges. Continuous learning is expected through attending workshops/trainings and reading appellate opinions to stay current with family law issues. Periodic day travel is required and will be reimbursed at the State rate. The headquarters is subject to change based upon the needs of the Court.
