About The Position

IMC Americas, Inc. has multiple openings for Macro News Analyst (REQ#4512584101) in Chicago, IL and Brooklyn, NY. This role involves researching, analyzing, modeling, and interpreting macroeconomic events for IMC’s trading teams. The analyst will produce and provide research that informs trading strategies and risk management surrounding news events. Key responsibilities include closely tracking macroeconomic indicators, central bank policies, and geopolitical events that may impact financial markets. The role requires using data analysis and creative research to develop theses on possible outcomes of future macroeconomic events and their impact on financial markets. The analyst will interpret headlines in real-time, effectively communicate their impact on the underlying scenario, and provide traders with timely insights and actionable updates. Understanding possible risks and opportunities in developing scenarios and collaborating cross-functionally with traders to share insights and contribute to decision-making processes are also crucial aspects of this position. Partial telecommuting is permitted, and multiple positions are available.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Finance, Economics, or similarly quantitative field
  • Two (2) years of experience as a Macro Analyst or a related occupation engaged in high frequency trading and/or at an investment bank.
  • Conducting macroeconomic research and performing quantitative and statistical analysis of financial time series, economic indicators, and market data
  • Collaborating with senior traders
  • Applying quantitative analysis to global financial markets, economic indicators, and geopolitical events
  • Identifying current market focus areas and forecasting the impact of macroeconomic developments on market conditions
  • Experience with programming in MATLAB, Python, R Programming, Excel VBA, and Bloomberg.

Responsibilities

  • Research, analyze, model, and interpret macroeconomic events for IMC’s trading teams.
  • Produce and provide research that informs trading strategies and management of risk surrounding news events.
  • Closely track macroeconomic indicators, central bank policies, and geopolitical events that may impact financial markets.
  • Use data analysis and creative research to come up with a thesis on possible outcomes in future decision points for macroeconomic events, as well as how those outcomes would impact financial markets.
  • Interpret headlines in real-time and effectively communicate the impact on the underlying scenario, providing traders with timely insights and actionable updates.
  • Understand the possible risks and opportunities in developing scenarios.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with traders to share insights and contribute to decision-making processes.
