About The Position

As a Machinist A, you will set up, operate, and monitor CNC mills, lathes, and other machining equipment to produce valve components to required specifications. You will interpret blueprints and technical drawings to ensure proper machine operation and part accuracy, adjust machine settings and offsets as needed, and perform routine checks using precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure parts meet tolerances and print standards. Additionally, you will perform basic operator care and troubleshoot CNC machines to minimize downtime, report any mechanical or operational issues to the supervisor or team lead, and load and unload raw materials and finished parts from machines. You will maintain accurate production and inspection records, including job travelers and check sheets, change out machine tools, inserts, and other components, and follow machine shop safety policies and adhere to lockout/tagout procedures. You will work safely in the manufacturing production environment, follow detailed verbal/written assembly instructions, processes, and procedures, and properly fill out basic forms, reports, and label products correctly that pertain to job duties. Communication and effective teamwork are essential, as is providing hands-on and verbal job function training to coworkers as needed. You will report problems with quality, processes, equipment and materials to the Production Supervisor or member of management, record daily all work performed and correct distribution of work time, and use software systems as needed to complete job duties. Contributing to a culture of high-quality products and maintaining a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions are also key. Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor per the CBA and company policies. The Supervisor will instruct each employee in the responsibilities as listed in the procedures and inform each employee where to access the procedure manual.

Requirements

  • Ability to work with your hands
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to lift and/or move 25 pounds, and up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures (hot/cold)
  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach at arm's length, stoop, kneel, and crouch
  • Ability to use power tools, air tools, and other vibratory tools
  • Ability to work around hot heavy machinery
  • Ability to work from a standing position for extended periods of time
  • Ability to move materials with a powered vehicle (forklift)
  • Repetitive standing, bending, turning, and twisting for extended periods of time
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision and color vision
  • Must be able to pass a basic aptitude test, physical, with drug/alcohol test and background screen
  • Candidates must be available to work all shifts including possible mandatory overtime on weekends
  • Previous experience with CNC or manual machines /manufacturing setting
