About The Position

Working at our Dayton site: TDI has been leading design and manufacturer of turbine powered start systems for 40+ years and designer of turbine air motors for over 60 years. The TDI site in Dayton, OH is a part of Unison, a GE Aerospace Company. Unison is uniquely positioned to introduce the next-gen Air Turbine Starter for the CMF56-7B fleet. At the TDI site, Unison also produces Surface Coolers and Bellows to support the aerospace industry. Role Overview: Operate more than one machine at a time Understand coolant percentage mixtures Basic housekeeping of cell (5S) Uses gages (calipers, dial indicators, micrometers, depth gages, bore gages, etc.), pneumatic tools, and hand tools to perform and inspect work Understand and use tool data (offsets, wear, etc.) to insure acceptable parts Review, understand and follow routers, procedures, specification, and other instructions for completeness to perform operations Utilize geometric tolerancing Fully understands blueprints Read and understand inspection sheets Produce error free products through in-process inspections Work under general direction with minimal coaching in a Team environment Will also perform other duties as assigned Program management in DNC system Change tooling Identify and use inserts Set up and calibrate inspection devices/gages (I.E. bore gages, bar gages, and height gages) Strong attention to detail Compliance with and supports all GE policies and the “Integrity: The Spirit and The Letter of Our Commitment” guide Excellent customer service to co-workers, customers, and vendors Works collaboratively and respects all others

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General education Degree (GED)
  • 6 months of CNC Lathe and CNC Mill Experience OR any technical schooling in Machining with CNC Lathe/Mill experience
  • Must be able to read and understand specifications, be able to analyze and interpret technical procedures, blueprints and written instructions.
  • Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practice situations.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to define and solve problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability/prior experience reading blueprints
  • Ability/prior experience reading routers and part numbers
  • Ability/prior experience using work instructions
  • Knowledge of documenting and scrapping hardware
