About The Position

Penn Machine Company, a leading manufacturer for the transit, railroad, oil/gas, and mining industries, is seeking a qualified individual for a full-time position in their Transit Division. As part of the global industrial organization Marmon Holdings, backed by Berkshire Hathaway, this role offers the opportunity to work in a growth industry with a well-established company. The Machinist will operate equipment to produce quality components to specifications while maintaining a safe and clean work environment. The normal schedule is Monday-Thursday, 2:30pm-12:30am.

Requirements

Machining background - knowledge of and/or machining background.
Strong background to read, understand, and interpret prints.
Experience using measuring equipment.
Ability to complete reports and documentation.
Ability to read and understand written directions and procedures.
Self-motivated and willing to work with minimal supervision.
Willingness to work overtime and alternate shifts, when required.

Nice To Haves

Programming experience and training is preferred.
Experience programming in MasterCam and/or Gear Pro is a plus.
Machine shop environment background preferred.

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain CNC lathes, mills, and/or gear grinders, as well as hand and power tools, to perform job assignments.
Replace worn inserts, drills, or tooling and adjust feed/speed rates.
Complete work assignments and associated reports in a timely manner.
Verify machine components with measuring instruments to ensure parts are made within tolerances.
Operate powered industrial forklift and crane hoist to transfer and position materials.
Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized work area.
