About The Position

Woodward is hiring a Machinist to support Multus machine operations in the Air Valve line at its Rock Cut Campus in Loves Park, Illinois. The role manufactures aerospace parts and components and is offered at Level I or Level II. The schedule is second shift, Monday through Thursday, 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., with overtime on Fridays. Level I machinists perform basic setups and operate multiple CNC or manual machines, including lathes, mills, Swiss machines, and OD/ID grinders. Level II machinists perform complex setups and operate numerous machines of these types. Both levels perform supporting operations, such as manual material removal and sub-assembly, inspect first pieces, follow work instructions, use gages to check finished products, and record data according to operating standards. Level II is required to train others in first-piece inspection; Level I may be required to train in these processes. The position emphasizes adherence to production and quality standards, 5S and lean practices, safety, effective communication, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Level II also champions and develops team-wide 5S and safety practices, has in-depth GD&T knowledge, and is familiar with machine insert and tooling selection. The work involves moderate physical activity and is performed in an area with moderate risk or discomfort that may require protective clothing or gear. Near-vision and/or color-vision examinations may be required.
