About The Position

Ellwood Texas Forge Navasota is seeking a safety-focused Machinist to operate CNC machining equipment used to remove excess material from forged components and closed dies in accordance with drawings, measurements, and quality specifications. As a Machinist operates based on established programs, fixtures, work instructions, and machine reference information; safely loads and positions parts; continuously monitors machine operation; measures and documents each required operation; and calculates and enters authorized offset adjustments.

Requirements

  • Industrial, manufacturing, production, mechanical, or similar hands-on experience required.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments is required.
  • Basic shop math skills, including decimals and subtraction.
  • Ability to follow drawings, measurements, written instructions, and established procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
  • Willingness to take notes, ask questions, and learn new equipment and processes.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work the required rotating schedule.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • CNC machining or heavy-manufacturing experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Remove excess material from forged components and closed dies using CNC mills, lathes, and established machining processes.
  • Review production assignments, drawings, inspection sheets, and work instructions.
  • Load, position, secure, flip, and unload components using cranes and fixtures.
  • Verify that the correct program, tooling, fixture, and part positioning are used.
  • Continuously monitor machines and stop operations when unusual noises, movement, tooling problems, or other abnormal conditions occur.
  • Measure parts using digital calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and other precision instruments.
  • Compare measurements with documented dimensions and tolerances.
  • Use decimals and subtraction to calculate dimensional differences and make authorized offset adjustments.
  • Stop and ask for assistance when measurements approach tolerance limits or repeated adjustments do not correct the issue.
  • Complete required production, inspection, preventive-maintenance, and downtime documentation.
  • Enter production information into SyteLine.
  • Clean machines and maintain a safe, organized work area.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
