About The Position

Novelis is seeking a Machinist for its Bay Minette facility to produce and repair precision industrial components that support maintenance, reliability, startup, outages, and breakdowns. Reporting to the Supervisor - Machine Shop & Fabrication Shop, the role operates conventional and CNC equipment, verifies critical dimensions, and delivers safe, accurate, and timely machine-shop work.

The position is onsite and requires flexibility to support shifts, outages, overtime, weekends, and emergencies. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

Novelis' newly announced Bay Minette facility will be located 35 miles northeast of Mobile, Alabama, and 45 miles west of Pensacola, Florida. The facility is expected to create approximately 1,000 advanced manufacturing careers and will serve customers primarily in the beverage can and automotive markets.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and at least three years of relevant machining or equivalent trade experience.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and perform shop mathematics.
• Ability to operate conventional machine tools and use precision measuring instruments.
• Ability to work onsite and provide flexible shift, outage, overtime, weekend, and emergency support.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

• Technical diploma, apprenticeship, journeyman experience, or NIMS credentials.
• CNC setup or programming experience.
• CAD/CAM experience.
• Repair machining experience.
• Industrial maintenance experience.
• Experience with SAP PM or CMMS.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate conventional and CNC machine tools.
• Interpret drawings, job scopes, tolerances, and material requirements.
• Machine and repair industrial shafts, sleeves, bushings, pins, fits, threads, and related components.
• Inspect work using precision measuring instruments and document results.
• Maintain safe setups, machine guarding, tooling, equipment condition, and housekeeping.
• Coordinate with maintenance, reliability, engineering, planning, operations, and fabrication personnel.
