About The Position

Olive Recruiting is seeking an experienced Machinist to join a global manufacturing client's team in Portland, Oregon. The role is responsible for precision machining and programming on lathes and mills to support production of critical components. The Machinist will use CNC operations, 5-axis machining, and CAM programming to ensure quality, accuracy, and efficiency in a fast-paced, high-regulation environment serving industries such as aerospace, defense, and medical manufacturing.

Requirements

• 7–10 years of experience as a CNC Machinist.
• Proficiency in CAM programming and experience interpreting CAD models and technical drawings.
• Strong understanding of machining principles, materials, and tolerances used in aerospace, medical, and defense manufacturing.
• Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to operational excellence.
• A proven track record of maintaining precision and quality in a high-compliance manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of continuous improvement practices and Lean manufacturing principles.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines to produce high-precision components for regulated industries.
• Program CNC machines using CAM software, optimize tool paths, and generate machining instructions from CAD models.
• Work with lathes and mills, with mill experience as the primary focus.
• Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to meet exact tolerances and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering and design teams to refine machining processes and develop manufacturing methods.
• Conduct quality control inspections using precision measurement tools to verify dimensional accuracy and compliance.
• Troubleshoot machining issues to maintain efficiency and minimize downtime.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that advance productivity and process optimization.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in compliance with industry and company standards.
