About The Position

The Machinist is a skilled-level machinist responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining a variety of manual and CNC machine tools to produce precision parts. This role requires the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, follow detailed specifications, and ensure high-quality production with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience, including CNC operation and setup.
  • Proficiency with machining math, including geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to use precision measurement tools with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong understanding of materials
  • Knowledge of machining principles, tooling selection, and cutting techniques
  • Knowledge and use of hand tools and general inspection tools
  • Must read/write/speak English fluently
  • Ability to read and follow work orders, set up data sheets, and measurement instructions
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to aerospace industry is required
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing principals and basic shop math, able to perform standard to metric numerical conversions
  • Punctual and reliable attendance
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time, lift up to 40 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • CMM experience desired
  • Computer skills (MS Office) and experience in ERP systems preferred
  • Previous experience in production and quality control methods (ISO9001, AS9100 etc.) preferred
  • Previous experience in Lean Manufacturing implementation and production systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC and manual milling machines, lathes, grinders, and other machine tools.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and work instructions.
  • Select appropriate tools, fixtures, speeds, and feeds for efficient and accurate machining.
  • Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMMs, and other measuring devices.
  • Adjust machine settings to maintain tolerances and meet quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues, including tool wear, material inconsistencies, and programming errors.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including job travelers, inspection reports, and equipment logs.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure safe, reliable operation.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering, quality, and production teams to improve processes.
  • Comply with all safety standards, company policies, and ISO/AS quality requirements.
