The Machinist works in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipe systems, and electrical systems in an industrial establishment. The role also uses shop machinery to fabricate, repair, or rebuild parts. This is a manual machining position, not a CNC machinist position. The Machinist is expected to read component blueprints and installation and arrangement drawings; operate lathes, mills, and vertical and horizontal band saws; work to close tolerances; and verify parts using precision measuring equipment. The role also involves troubleshooting hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical issues, performing mechanical repairs, and measuring parts to create drawings for machine-shop fabrication. The employee must follow applicable safety guidelines and procedures. Duties may be changed or supplemented at management's discretion. The position calls for broad technical training, such as high school plus one to two years of apprenticeship or applied trades training, and at least three years of related work experience. An associate degree in Machine Tool Technology is preferred, and an equivalent combination of education and related experience may be acceptable. The employer offers competitive base pay, organizational-performance-based bonus eligibility, paid time off, and a range of benefits.
