About The Position

As a Machinist, you will be responsible for completing machining functions from start to finish. This includes loading fixtures/parts onto the machine, indicating them round and flat to the machine surface, setting tools, and generating offsets. You will also be responsible for recording dimensions throughout the machining process. The role involves machining products to tight tolerances, interpreting specification manuals, blueprints, templates, and layouts, and verifying dimensions using precision measuring instruments. You will compute dimensions and tolerances, measure and lay out work pieces, and adjust and set up machine tools. Additionally, you will participate in cross-training other technicians as needed and work both independently and as part of a team to ensure maximum quality, while observing all applicable safety practices.

Requirements

3 or more years of experience as a Machinist including operating lathes or mills
3 or more years of experience reading/interpreting manuals and technical drawings, utilizing hand tools, and working with precision measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, gauges, micrometers)
3 or more years of experience with manual machine tools operations
Ability to lift up to 50lbs without assistance
Ability to stand for 5 plus hours at a time
High School Diploma, or GED
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

Preferred CNC or Manual Machinist Certification
VTL (Vertical Turning Lathe) experience
High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy and precision

Responsibilities

Complete a machining function from start to finish

Machine products to tight tolerances
Reads and interprets specification manuals, blueprints, templates and layouts to determine machining operation to be performed
Verifies dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges and micrometers
Computes dimensions and tolerances and measures and lays out work pieces
Adjusts and sets up machine tools for use by machining tool operators
Participates in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements
Work independently and as a team to achieve maximum quality
Compute and verify dimensions to ensure accuracy
Observing all applicable safety practices
Carries out other duties as assigned
