About The Position

Nammo Perry is a center of excellence for the design, development and production of munitions and pyrotechnic products for the U.S. Department of Defense. Nammo employees working at the Florida site manufacture all types of 40mm low and high velocity ammunition; pyrotechnic marking; signaling and tactical illumination devices; battlefield effects training simulators; demolition charges; hand grenade fuzes; and other ammunition components. Additionally, they provide load, assemble, and pack (LAP) services for large caliber direct-fire ammunition. The Machinist will set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments out of metal. Includes precision instrument makers who fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical instruments. May also fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational/technical school training and apprenticeship required
  • Ability to read blueprints and plans
  • Excellent mechanical skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Must submit to and pass a drug test pursuant to Company Drug-Free Workplace Policy which includes random testing.
  • Must have good vision (may be corrected).
  • Must have no known hearing loss (may be corrected).
  • Must be able to stand/walk/sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 35 pounds at a time.

Responsibilities

  • Operates fabrication machinery to produce parts used in manufacturing processes.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and design sketches to ensure proper dimensions and specifications for parts.
  • Selects the appropriate cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials to be used on machines.
  • Examines and measures completed units and parts to identify any defects and to ensure units conform with predetermined specifications; adjusts machine controls to resolve production errors.
  • Inspects machinery for any needed repairs; performs minor repairs within expertise.
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety of work area.
  • Complies with applicable safety standards and regulations.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
