We anticipate more than one opening for a Journeyman Machinist located at the Monticello Plant in Monticello, MN. Will be required to actively participate in training and retraining programs as directed by Plant Management. Will be required to function under written plant maintenance procedures as appropriate, and document records as required by Plant Management. Will be required to perform duties when necessary from scaffolds and catwalks in high and confined areas. May be asked to accept temporary assignments at other locations, including nuclear plants, as prescribed by Plant Management. Will be required to meet screening requirements under NRC regulations. Must be able to be respirator qualified. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must have completed the Apprenticeship Training Course for a Repairman.
  • Must have knowledge of Power Plant equipment and general maintenance practices.
  • Must have the ability to intelligently communicate with plant personnel both verbally and in writing.
  • Must have satisfactorily completed Apprentice Machinist training.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of all machinist tools, precision instruments, and be able to apply this knowledge on all types of machinist work.
  • Must have the ability to intelligently communicate with plant personnel both verbally and in writing and be able to be able to take the necessary measurements or clearance readings of equipment as required by management.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Must pass the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) MASS test, or be grandfathered.
  • A condition of employment will be successfully obtaining and maintaining General Security Clearance and a Nuclear Security Clearance for unescorted access to Xcel Energy nuclear plants including successful completion of nuclear General Access Training (GAT) and the nuclear security screening process (typically consists of an alcohol/drug screen, a criminal history check, a psychological assessment, initial credit and background investigation and periodic credit & criminal history checks).
