This position involves operating various machinery in a manufacturing environment. The Machinist 1 will be responsible for safely operating engine lathes, knee mills, and drill presses, working from prints, and learning basic tooling nomenclature and cost center procedures. The role also includes performing basic fixturing, creating hand sketches, and supervised operation of some CNC machines for complex tooling. Additional responsibilities include providing on-the-job training and adhering to safety policies. The role requires basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills, the ability to read a tape measure, manual dexterity, and the capacity to lift up to 50 pounds. Experience with the "Machinist Handbook" is also noted.
