About The Position

Dover Precision Components (DPC) is seeking a skilled Machinist to join their team. This role involves operating and setting up manual and CNC machine tools to produce precision plastic or metal components. The Machinist will work with HAAS, MAZAK, and other name-brand machines, ensuring parts are machined to exacting tolerances and quality standards. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1-3 years manufacturing experience.
  • Proficiency in shop math and blueprint reading.
  • Computer skills including Windows based softwares such as MSOffice.
  • Excellent mechanical skills.
  • Good math skills.
  • Ability to operate various types of machine tools to perform progressive machining.
  • Ability to read blueprints and plans.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, boring machines, and grinders.
  • Machine plastic or metal work pieces using HAAS, MAZAK and other name brand machines.
  • Work to exacting tolerances, determine speeds and feeds to produce quality products.
  • Visualize finished product and recognize and report corrections in blueprint errors.
  • Function as final inspector for finished manufactured products.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and design sketches to ensure proper dimensions and specifications for parts.
  • Perform machine set ups to obtain close tolerances, fitting and alignment of machined parts.
  • Obtain required inspections on first pieces of a run according to prescribed procedure and perform inspections on work-in-progress using a wide variety of measuring devices.
  • Select the appropriate cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials to be used on machines.
  • Examine and measure completed units and parts to identify any defects and to ensure units conform with predetermined specifications; adjust machine controls to resolve production errors.
  • Utilize Geometric Dimension & Tolerance as called out on print.
  • Operate fabrication machinery to produce parts used in manufacturing processes, primarily on Mazak and HAAS equipment.
  • Ensure proper machine set up and accurate interpretation of prints and specifications to prevent damage to material.
  • Detect errors with frequent tolerance/quality checks.
