About The Position

SMS group is an industrial equipment manufacturer for the steel industry. We design, build, and service equipment and sleep plants across the globe with a strong technical services/machine shop network in North America. The Machinist will set up and operate a variety of machines including, Mazak, Okuma, and manual lathes.

Requirements

Safety minded person who enjoys hands on work.
Ability to set up and operate both CNC and manual machinery for use in metal working applications.
Understand Mazatrol.
Understanding and able to edit G code as needed is a plus.
Integrated Renishaw probing.
Must be courteous and work well with others.
Drug free, safety minded and maintain an excellent attendance record.
Converting metric and standard measurements.
Basic Trigonometry functions.
Ability to use and read precise measuring tools.
Ability to learn and understand critical processes and operations in assigned areas.
HS Diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

Understanding and able to edit G code as needed is a plus.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate a variety of machines including, Mazak, Okuma, and manual lathes.
Set up and operate both CNC and manual machinery for use in metal working applications.
Complete SOP travelers and document daily activities.
Interpret assembly and blue prints drawings.
Follow proper safety precautions.
Properly rig heavy machinery and equipment for use with overhead crane.
Train new or other employees to perform same job responsibilities.
Maintain an organized and clean work area.
