Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Journeyman Tool & Die Certification.
  • 5-7 years related experience
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Knowledge and ability to successfully use all traditional machine shop equipment including, but not limited to surface grinders, lathes, milling machines, and drill presses.

Nice To Haves

  • Documented maintenance training or welding certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and operates conventional, special purpose, and machining centers to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts.
  • Maintain and repair tooling including, but not limited to, roll form tooling, cut-off dies, pre-pierce dies and stamping dies.
  • Ability to machines die components from raw materials.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and correct tooling problems.
  • Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
  • Inspect drives, motors, and belts, check fluid levels, replace filters, or perform other maintenance actions, following checklists.
  • Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
  • Assemble, install or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery, and equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical or mechanical problems and determine how to correct them, checking Blueprints, electrical schematics, repair manuals, and parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Inspect, operate, and test machinery and equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions.
  • Responsible for installation of large and small pipe, conduit, and sealtite; wire pulling for electrical, computer, and phone systems.
  • Coordinate and work with production and engineering to develop and schedule timelines for new equipment installations and repairs.
  • Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work.
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Dismantle devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Inventory control, stocking, quoting, and replenishment activities.
