About The Position

Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. The role may include fabricating, modifying, or repairing mechanical instruments, as well as making or modifying parts to repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines. Work applies knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Five to seven years of relevant experience.
Ability to use precision measuring equipment and instruments, including micrometers, dial indicators, and depth gauges.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and geometric tolerances.
Clear and effective verbal communication skills.
Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize activities with guidance.
Basic knowledge of applying safe systems of work.

Nice To Haves

Two or more years of machining experience in a manufacturing or repair environment operating manual lathes, milling machines, or CNC lathes or mills.

Responsibilities

Operate basic equipment and machines and carry out routine tasks.
Carry out operational tasks by following established processes.
Help maintain and repair equipment by preparing and providing assistance.
Follow mandatory health, safety, and environmental work instructions to protect oneself, others, and the environment.
Follow procedures to meet required quality standards and comply with external regulatory codes and internal codes of conduct.
Interpret and use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, and depth gauges.
Read and interpret blueprints and geometric tolerances.
Exchange information through courteous interactions with others.
Work with guidance to understand and follow policies and procedures aligned with organizational strategies and objectives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
