About The Position
At Jasper Electric Motors, the Machinist is responsible for operating manual lathes, vertical and horizontal boring mills, and milling machines. This role involves setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts. The position may also include fabricating and modifying parts to make or repair machine tools or maintaining industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures. The Machinist will perform other duties and projects as designated by their supervisor, with the understanding that the described parameters are indicative of average requirements and may change based on operational, safety, or environmental factors.
Requirements
- Operating manual lathes, vertical and horizontal boring mills, and milling machines.
- Setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts.
- Fabricating and modifying parts to make or repair machine tools.
- Maintaining industrial machines.
- Applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
