About The Position

The Machinist's primary functions are to fabricate, maintain, repair, and/or alters metal parts and metal objects using a variety of hand tools and metalworking machines. This role involves manufacturing parts from different materials according to supplied drawings, handling raw and stock materials, and maintaining precise tolerances. Daily tasks include saw cutting, milling, turning, drilling, tapping, reaming, slotting, deburring, sanding, and grinding. The machinist will set up and operate metalworking machines such as lathes and milling machines to machine parts to established specifications, and perform related duties such as cleaning, maintaining records, and drawing sketches. They will review plans, specifications, and diagrams to determine dimensions, tolerances, and required tools and materials for assigned projects.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work 6am-430pm Monday-Thursday.
  • Must be flexible – OT and weekend are required as needed.
  • Must be able to read/write.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Must be able to read and correctly interpret drawings.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Must be able to read measurement instruments such as Calipers, Micrometers, tape measure etc.
  • Basic math skills to measure specifications.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years plus of manufacturing experience
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, push, pull, twist, and turn for long periods of time in a manufacturing environment (Varied based on daily tasks).
  • Must be in good physical condition.
  • Must have good hand/eye coordination.

Nice To Haves

  • HVAC industry preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacturing parts from different materials to the drawings supplied.
  • Handling of raw and stock materials from delivery to completion of parts.
  • Maintaining tolerances as close as +- .005.
  • Daily production of saw cutting, milling, turning, drilling, tapping, reaming, slotting, deburring, sanding, and grinding.
  • Sets up and operates metalworking machines such as lathes and milling machines to machine parts to established specifications.
  • Performs related duties such as cleaning work area, tools, and equipment; maintaining records and logs; and drawing sketches of metal parts or metal components to be machined.
  • Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock following blueprints, diagrams and/or specifications and using square rule and scribe to prepare metal for machining operations.
  • Reviews plans, specifications, diagrams, etc. to determine dimensions and tolerances of metal components to be machined and to determine the tools, materials and equipment required to complete assigned project.
  • Other duties as assigned.
