About The Position

Prodomax Automation Ltd. is seeking a Machinist to join their team in Barrie, Ontario. Prodomax is a specialized industrial engineering firm focused on designing complex automation with a blue-chip customer base since 1971. Operating from two facilities totaling 200,000 square feet with 200+ employees, they are ISO 9001:2015 certified. The Machinist will be responsible for manufacturing components in a machine shop environment and will report directly to the Manufacturing Supervisor. The level within the role will be determined by the skills and experience brought to the position, with responsibilities noted as the employee progresses. The role has growth potential from Junior to Intermediate and Senior levels.

Requirements

Completion of an Apprenticeship Program for Machinist and holds a General Machinist 429A Certificate of Qualification
Minimum 1-3 years direct working experience (Junior)
Minimum 3-5 years direct working experience (Intermediate)
Minimum 5+ years direct working experience (Senior)
The ability to Set up, program and operate ACU-RITE NC knee milling machines (required for Intermediate and Senior, asset for Junior)
HAAS CNC set up and operation (asset for Junior, required for Intermediate and Senior)

Ability to work well as a member of a team
Ability to work well under pressure in a constantly changing environment
Excellent judgment and strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to understand the financial impact of relevant options

Responsibilities

Read and interpret drawings and determine work and/or repair procedures
Set up and operate to prescribe tolerances on lathes, mills, surface grinders, and saws
Select mechanical measuring, checking and layout tools and devices
Execute measuring, checking and layout operations
Perform metal removing operations using hand and power cutting tools
Fit and assemble parts and sub-assemblies to build special-purpose machinery
Some heavy lifting
Mentor and lead Apprentices and Junior Machinists (Intermediate and Senior levels)
Mentor and lead Apprentices, Junior, and Intermediate Machinists (Senior level)
