About The Position

Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. The role may include fabricating, modifying, or repairing mechanical instruments, as well as fabricating and modifying parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines. Work draws on knowledge of mechanics, mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
5–7 years of relevant experience.
Ability to interpret and use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, and depth gauges.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and geometric tolerances.

Nice To Haves

2+ years of machining experience in a manufacturing or repair environment operating manual lathes, milling machines, or CNC lathes/mills.
Clear and effective verbal communication skills to express ideas and request actions.
Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize activities with guidance to meet business objectives efficiently.
Applies elementary concepts to manage and apply safe systems of work.

Responsibilities

Operate basic equipment and machines and carry out routine tasks.
Carry out operational tasks by following established processes.
Help maintain and repair equipment by carrying out preparations and providing assistance.
Follow basic mandatory work instructions to safeguard the environment and the wellbeing of oneself and others.
Follow mandatory procedures to ensure work meets required quality standards and complies with external regulations and internal codes of conduct.
Interpret and use precision measuring equipment and instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, and depth gauges.
Read and interpret blueprints and geometric tolerances.
Exchange information through courteous interactions with others.
Work with guidance to understand policies and procedures and ensure they align with organizational strategies and objectives.
Perform other duties as assigned.
