This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As part of a hardworking team of integration engineers, machinist and aerospace technicians you will support the development, construction, operation, and maintenance of liquid rocket engine test facilities for various spaceflight systems. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of liquid rocket engine testing from test facility construction to operation and maintenance. You will demonstrate operational excellence, reviewing, improving, and following procedures and processes. Working with engineers on planning and executing modifications for complex fluid and mechanical systems, you will fabricate and machine parts for rocket engine test article integration and checkouts. We will rely on you to lead machining and fabrication of ground support equipment. You will safely work with hazardous chemicals and high pressure fluid systems. Finally, you will identify opportunities for continuous improvements to promote workplace safety, achieve cost-savings, and make test stand operations more streamlined and consistent. Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years in a manufacturing working hands on environment.
  • Minimum of 2 years in CNC programming with offline software like UG, Esprit, Master Cam.
  • Minimum of 2 years in working with multi axis machines
  • Minimum of 2 years working with hardened metals.
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures.
  • Extensive experience with Mazak, Okuma, Fanuc, Heidenhain, Siemens, and other CNC controls.
  • Excellent blueprint reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard
  • Outside processing knowledge (heat treat, plating, coating, EDM, grinding, etc.)
  • Ability to work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with rapidly changing roles and responsibilities
  • Basic computer skills such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Extremely customer focused with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with teams of diverse skills across large geographic distances

  • Work off-shift, extended hours, overtime, and weekends if/when necessary

  • Tooling and fixture design

  • Experience machining tight tolerance, high value components

Responsibilities

  • Hands on experience in programming and set up of 5 axis mills, multi axis lathes, development of critical machining processes, supporting aerospace, commercial aircraft or any specialized fabrication of close tolerance production hardware.
  • Help with the setup new production work areas, including layouts, tooling and equipment setup, etc.
  • Direct hands on experience various products utilizing, multiple-axis machining, turning and or grinding centers.
  • Interface with area leadership to prioritize work based on production schedule and organizational goals.
  • Ensure product quality and conformance to engineering specifications.
  • Implement and refine new manufacturing processes.
  • Work with engineering to document and standardize production processes.
  • Collaborate with engineering to develop production ready manufacturing approach.
  • Review work instructions and provide recommended changes where necessary.
  • Assist with transition from development to production by working alongside engineering to successfully transition the product.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency.
  • Second party verification of manufactured hardware.
  • Other duties as assigned or otherwise beneficial to fulfilling the mission and vision.
