About The Position

The machinist is in charge of setting up and operating a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and fabricate and modify parts to make or repair machine tools. This role also involves maintaining industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.

Requirements

Demonstrates ability to self-motivate and to problem solve in a fast-paced setting.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to handle numbers and multiple tasks at one time.
A proven understanding of milling machines, lathes and grinders and associated tooling and set up.
Ability to use measurement equipment and hold tolerances.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to seek and accept feedback from others and complete jobs with little or no supervision.
Ability to speak, read, and write in English.

Technical School or Apprenticeship preferred

Responsibilities

Performs machinist duties as required to maintain and fabricate machinery.
Assists with tasks in the machine shop and production areas as needed.
Performs machining work according to required drawings or supervisor’s instructions.
Performs maintenance and machine fabrication supervising quality of the job.
Works with engineering to develop machining processes for different jobs.
Responsible for maintaining order and cleanliness in the machine shop.
