Machinist 3 - Fri Sat Sun 2nd Shift-1
About The Position
Northrop Grumman is seeking a Machinist to work at its Elkton, Maryland facility. The Elkton Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility has been involved in solid-propellant rocket operations since 1948 and currently designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems for various government and commercial customers. The facility also supports offsite engineering and test operations in Ronkonkoma, NY, and Palm Beach Gardens, FL. This is a second shift position, eligible for a 10% shift differential. The role involves working with explosives and requires the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent education
- Minimum 4 years of experience working in a machine shop
- Must have the ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, GD & T, and other engineering specifications
- Must have working knowledge of shop floor mathematics and measuring tools/equipment
- Ability to set-up and operate a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders
- Ability to set-up, program and operate CNC machines. Preferably Mazak and Proto Trak
- Must be able to use basic hand tool and precision measuring instrument
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Candidate must have a willingness to learn and possess a positive team working attitude
- Excellent communication, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Candidate must demonstrate the ability to work safely and concern for the safety of others
- Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance which requires US Citizenship as a pre-requisite
Nice To Haves
- Associates Degree
- Ability to program and set-up Mazak lathes, mills, and integrex machines
- Experience with Proto-Trak lathes and mills
- Experience with EDM equipment
- Explosive training
Responsibilities
