About The Position

Utilizes manual machining equipment to produce replacement and new metal parts for mechanical equipment repairs. Fabricate metal parts for experimental apparatus, prototype equipment, new production equipment, tools or dies, working from drawing, blueprints, verbal or written instructions. Under general supervision, performs a variety of tasks which requires a thorough knowledge of fabrication techniques, materials, tools and equipment.

Requirements

• Accredited Journeyman's Apprenticeship or 6 years experience in machine tooling or tool and die making.
• Must be able to fabricate parts, fixtures, tools or equipment from blue prints, CAD drawings and oral or written instructions.
• Must be able to operate and maintain all machine shop equipment including but not limited to lathes, milling machines, drill presses, surface grinders.
• Arch welder and TIG welder.

Responsibilities

• Work from CAD data, engineering drawing, rough sketches, manuals or verbal instructions.
• Operate equipment such as, but not limited to, vertical end mill, lathe, band saw, wire welder, arc welder, gas welder, cutting torch, surface grinder and CNC equipment.
• Maintain work area and operate equipment according to equipment specification so as to ensure quality parts and safe operation.
• Use a variety of precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators, etc..
• Follow machine safety procedures as applicable such as rigging and lockout/ tagout.
• Other duties as assigned.
