About The Position

MISTRAS is seeking motivated machinists for challenging parts and materials in an aerospace and precision machining environment. The role involves machining parts to specifications and delivery schedules, inspecting work throughout machining operations, and maintaining safe and healthy work practices. Requirements

Five or more years of machining experience or relatable equipment experience is preferred.
Ability to learn new processes, techniques, equipment, and technology.
Willingness to learn and share knowledge.
Ability to interpret prints and operation sheets.
Knowledge of typical inspection equipment and techniques.
Good understanding of shop math and a basic understanding of geometric tolerances.
Understanding of basic quality processes.
Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Ability to stand for one or more hours at a time.
Regular attendance and punctuality.
Ability to operate a forklift, overhead crane, and lifting devices safely.

Nice To Haves

Experience operating CNC lathes, vertical turret lathes (VTLs), or working in a heavy manufacturing environment.
Experience with production environments involving quick changeovers and a mix of low- and high-volume part runs.
Experience cutting superalloys such as titanium, Inconel, and René, and machining large forgings.
Ability to understand programs on CNC machines.

Responsibilities

Interpret part drawings, basic CNC programs, and work instructions.
Verify parts, document equipment changes, and maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
Machine parts to specifications and delivery schedules.
Use measuring tools and gauges to inspect and document quality checks during machining operations.
Monitor machines and adjust cutting tools, inserts, and offsets.
Examine existing part programs and recommend improvements.
Use basic math to support job duties.
Work with management, programmers, and shop personnel to resolve machining issues and propose process improvements.
Uphold and participate in company quality and safety programs.
Safely load and unload parts from machines, fixtures, and work areas using lifting equipment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
