About The Position

The Machinist is responsible for fabrication and layout on a variety of parts or products involving close tolerances. Must set up and operate all machine shop machines to cut, bend, machine or form parts. This role is responsible for the quality of work performed in the machine shop area, the fabrication and layout of parts with close tolerances, and the setup and operation of all machine shop machines. The machinist will use a variety of machine shop hand tools and measuring instruments, assist the Lead in workflow and process improvement, and maintain machinery and the plant area in good working order. Adherence to company policies, safety practices, Core Values, and the CARE Initiative is expected. All job assignments are performed as instructed by supervisors.

Requirements

High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) plus one-year certificate from college or technical school and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of experience and training.
Ability to read a limited number of two- and three-syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
Ability to print and speak simple sentences.
Must have working knowledge to read and interpret prints.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Basic skills in CNC programming and precision hand tools are required.

Responsibilities

Assists Lead in all functions of the machine shop including workflow and process improvement.
Responsible for keeping both machinery and plant area in good working order, including cleaning and maintenance of machine shop equipment and all tools involved in daily production.
Abides by all policies, procedures, and guidelines of the company including good common sense safety practices.
