Requirements

  • 5–10 years of machinist experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 2–3 years of supervisory or team‑lead experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an apprenticeship or equivalent on‑the‑job training.
  • Experience with Esprit CAD/CAM and CREO Manufacturing software.
  • DOE Q‑Clearance (or ability to obtain).

Responsibilities

  • Manage a group of Machinists and Senior Machinists to ensure schedules are met and production goals achieve positive variances.
  • Report project status and progress to management as needed.
  • Maintain strong communication and seamless collaboration with design, manufacturing, operations, and testing teams.
  • Set up and operate machines to verify performance, capability, and conformance to customer specifications.
  • Interpret prints, sketches, diagrams, specs, handbook formulas, layouts, and apply shop math (including trigonometry and descriptive geometry).
  • Use all precision measuring tools—calipers, micrometers, gauges, dial indicators—to ensure part quality and configuration.
  • Select and install tools, fixtures, machine attachments, and equipment, identifying and correcting faulty tools when needed.
  • Monitor machining systems, including mechanical, electrical/electronic diagnostics, cutter data, probes, and sensors to adjust machine performance.
  • Maximize machine capacity while reducing setups and machining time.
  • Perform bench work and finishing operations to ensure parts meet required specifications.
  • Analyze drawings and specifications to plan machining operations and build sequences.
  • Ensure alignment, tolerances, finishes, and functionality meet engineering and manufacturing standards.
