Requirements

  • Must have 3+ years of experience (for Machinist).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have 1+ years of manufacturing experience (for Machine Operator).
  • 3-4+ years manufacturing or related work experience (for Machine Operator).
  • A.A. degree or equivalent experience, or any combination of education and experience (for Machine Operator).
  • Vocational or technical training or equivalent experience (for Machine Operator).

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with CMM, GD&T, and SPC (for Machinist).
  • Can perform basic set-ups on multiple machines (for Machinist).
  • Ability to train CNC Operators and Machinists I on routine tasks (for Machinist).
  • Developing proficiency with complex setups (for Machinist).
  • Ability to perform intermediate troubleshooting procedures (for Machinist).
  • Proficient with part inspection techniques (comparator, profilometer etc.) (for Machinist).
  • 2-year machining degree preferred (for Machinist).
  • Experience with work involving fabrication, machining, or similar processes are preferred (for Machine Operator).
  • Ability to operate vertical/horizontal mill, lathe or Swiss machinery preferred (for Machine Operator).
  • Ability to perform non-complex adjustments and changes to machinery (for Machine Operator).
  • Troubleshooting abilities (for Machine Operator).
  • 2-year machining degree preferred (for Machine Operator).

Responsibilities

  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers.
  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications using various measuring tools such as: calipers, micrometers, and depth micrometers.
  • Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
  • Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.
  • Complete the necessary paperwork and computer entry steps.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Understands blueprints, drawings, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations.
  • Refer to the tooling list and install correct tooling.
  • Be able to enter and verify tool offsets.
  • Communicate process issues to supervisor for investigation.
