The Machinist Intern position allows students pursuing a career in the manufacturing industry the opportunity to gain experience while completing their program. Kurt Machining provides precision CNC-machining services utilizing state-of-the-art manufacturing, quality, and automation technology. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED
  • Enrolled in 1st year Machine Tool Technology or Automated Systems & Robotics Program
  • Communication proficiency
  • Math skills
  • Mechanical & Technical capacity

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to read blueprints and build to specifications
  • Knowledge of CNC controllers and tools
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate computer numerical controls (CNC) on machining centers to fabricate parts.
  • Load parts in the machine, cycle machine and detect malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
  • Run production lots, communicate with co-workers regarding productions runs, and maintain a safe, organized and clean work environment.
  • Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions to management or engineers.
  • Operate CNC Mills and/or Lathes with knowledge of multiple pallets and work coordinated systems as they apply to existing CNC machines.
  • Perform inspection of machined products and document results.
  • Analyze processes and provide solutions to problems while working on reducing setup and cycle times.
  • Complete and maintain paperwork for parts.
  • Assist in other work areas as needed.
