Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years of machining experience in a machine shop environment, or equivalent advanced machining training plus relevant hands-on experience.
  • Advanced experience setting up and operating a broad range of manual, conventional, and/or CNC machines used to machine complex metal components.
  • Strong experience with multiple machining processes such as milling, turning, grinding, boring, and/or EDM.
  • Experience interpreting blueprints, work instructions, and specifications to perform complex machining operations and maintain required tolerances.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot machining, tooling, setup, and quality issues with a high level of independence.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools and inspection equipment to verify conformance of finished parts.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and wear required personal protective equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Successful completion of an assessment for the job class, background check, and drug screen.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas now or in the future for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced machine set up and operate a wide range of manual, conventional, and CNC machine tools to perform complex machining operations on gas turbine materials, components, and assemblies.
  • Perform machining work ranging from standard to highly complex using equipment such as mills, drills, grinders, broaches, turret lathes, horizontal bore machines, EDM, and engine lathes.
  • Interpret blueprints, CNC code, programs, work instructions, process sheets, and specifications to produce parts to required tolerances.
  • Apply temperature compensation methods when machining large components to maintain dimensional accuracy and conformance to specifications.
  • Select and use appropriate tooling, fixtures, and measuring devices to support safe, accurate, and efficient machining.
  • Inspect parts using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, trimos, tool setters, and Coordinate Measuring Machines.
  • Operate material-moving equipment such as forklifts, jib cranes, gantry cranes, and overhead cranes, and perform advanced lifts, as trained.
  • Identify and correct routine machining or setup issues to maintain quality and production flow.
  • Contribute to team problem solving and continuous improvement efforts.
