Responsible for fabricating, modifying, and repairing mechanical instruments and assemblies using precision tools and machinery to produce high-quality parts according to specifications. Interpret blueprints, monitor operations, inspect product, problem solve, accurate recordkeeping. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives. Requirements

  • Required education and experience: Vocational/Technical Training Degree and 1-2 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience

  • Preferred education: Associate's Degree
  • Discipline/Major: Technical training preferred
  • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Mathematical skills. Technical expertise. Manual dexterity. Physical Stamina. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Leadership skills.
  • Experience: Proven work experience as a Precision Machinist or in a similar role within a manufacturing setting.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of machining processes and the ability to operate and maintain various types of machine tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the installation, operation, testing, and adjustment of various types of conventional or automatic machines used to produce precision parts and instruments.
  • Fabricates and modifies parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.
  • Machines parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.
  • Measures, examines, and tests completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.
