Summary of the position: The Machinist position requires an individual to perform several duties as defined within the Machine Operation family. This position is located at the Hitachi Global Air Power manufacturing plant in Michigan City, Indiana, and reports to the Machine Shop Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Education or equivalent.
  • Basic reading and strong math skills required to perform the functions of the job.
  • 1-3 years machining experience preferred and/or machine trades schooling.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Understand technical blueprints.
  • Computer skills required (i.e., spreadsheets, data entry, email)
  • Ability to use precision measurement device.
  • Work within .0005 tolerances.
  • Working knowledge of machine shop equipment including but not limited to: CNC Grinders, Lathes and Mills.
  • Successfully complete training and receive a Forklift Operator’s License.
  • Lifting to 35 lbs.
  • Lifting over 35 lbs. requires a lifting device, crane, or assistance from another associate.
  • Standing and walking minimum of 8 hrs.
  • May work in awkward positions.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up, troubleshooting, and operation of the machine, including tool and work piece adjustments.
  • Safe material handling processes, including forklift driving and overhead crane operating.
  • Execute daily production, quality, and on time delivery requirements.
