About The Position

Atlantic Valve Services (AVS) is seeking a skilled Machinist II to support the repair, restoration, and machining of critical valve components used across the power generation, pharmaceutical, chemical, refining, manufacturing, and industrial markets. This is not a high-volume production machining environment. Our machinists perform specialized repair and restoration work on valve bodies, trim, actuators, and related components, helping customers return critical equipment to service safely and efficiently. If you enjoy working on unique projects, solving complex repair challenges, and producing precision work that directly impacts industrial operations, we'd like to hear from you. Significant overtime opportunities are available during spring and fall outage seasons.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of machining experience
  • Strong understanding of manual machining practices and techniques
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Commitment to workplace safety

Nice To Haves

  • Machinist trade school certificate or apprenticeship training
  • Military machining or mechanical maintenance experience
  • Experience repairing industrial equipment or valve components
  • Experience with horizontal lathes, vertical turret lathes (VTLs), milling machines, boring mills, and drill presses
  • Welding, fabrication, or mechanical repair experience
  • Experience in power generation, manufacturing, refinery, pharmaceutical, or industrial environments

Responsibilities

  • Perform precision machining and repair operations on valve components, tooling, fixtures, and related equipment.
  • Operate manual machine shop equipment including engine lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses, and other machining equipment.
  • Machine new parts from bar stock and raw castings.
  • Restore damaged valve bodies, trim components, and related equipment to required tolerances.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other measuring instruments.
  • Maintain critical dimensions and tolerances throughout machining and repair operations.
  • Rework, modify, and repair existing components to support customer requirements.
  • Assist in developing tooling, fixtures, and production aids to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Verify completed work meets quality standards and job specifications.
  • Complete required job documentation and inspection records.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Comply with all AVS safety policies and procedures.
  • Support additional shop and field service activities as assigned.
