About The Position

Machinist II is responsible for performing skilled machinist duties under limited supervision. This role involves working with mills and lathes, operating complex machines using computer-aided devices, and performing preventive maintenance of machines. The position requires the ability to read engineering blueprints and planning, a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, strong multitasking ability, and an interest in learning new skills/technologies. The ideal candidate must be well-organized, work well with others, be flexible, and possess a broad skill set with a willingness to tackle multiple tasks. Knowledge of tooling speeds, feeds, offsets, and minor program changes is essential, as is the ability to prove out programs. The Machinist II will set up, program, and operate two CNC Lathes (Okuma), perform tool adjustments as required, work with Engineering to make tooling, and use inspection tools to inspect parts. Ancillary activities and other duties as assigned are also part of the role. This role is subject to compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), requiring the incumbent to be a U.S. Person.

Requirements

  • 3 years of recent working experience in CNC Lathe.
  • Must be able to read engineering blueprints and planning.
  • Knowledge of tooling speeds and feeds offsets and minor program changes.
  • Ability to prove out programs.
  • Able to use inspections tool to inspect parts.
  • Must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, U.S. National, Refugee, or Asylee) due to ITAR and EAR compliance.

  • High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • Completion of a 2 year technical/trade school in machining (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Uses blueprints and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels of the finished product.
  • Takes measurements of material and selects appropriate machine for the process.
  • Perform all of the Grade I requirements.
  • Contacts supervisory personnel when raw product, events or finished products are not conforming to required standards.
  • Maintains and performs preventive maintenance on machines and related systems.
  • Records machine data for reporting and record-keeping purposes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory or management personnel.
  • Setup, program, and operate two CNC Lathes (Okuma).
  • Perform tool adjustment as required.
  • Work with Engineering to make tooling.
  • Able to use inspections tool to inspect parts.
  • Perform ancillary activities and other duties as assigned.
