Requirements

  • Requires minimal supervision for standard operations
  • Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to CNC machining
  • Works independently within established procedures
  • Experience with Haas and Arumatik-Mi controls
  • Building confidence and technical breadth in machining discipline
  • Understanding of basic GD&T symbols and their application
  • Strong written and verbal English language communication skills
  • Excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
  • Demonstrate commitment and adherence to Sigma Design Core Values
  • Pass a post-offer background verification
  • Specific experience with lathe work, including Haas ST-20
  • 5-axis machining experience, specifically on a Kitamura machining center

Responsibilities

  • Independently repairs and fabricates parts by operating mechanical equipment
  • Sets up, operates, and monitors CNC machine output with minimal supervision
  • Makes mechanical and/or program adjustments to ensure parts meet quality requirements
  • Interprets complex blueprints and basic GD&T symbols to ensure proper dimensions and tolerances
  • Analyzes engineering drawings, blueprints, models, and design data to machine parts to specification
  • Owns full setups with minimal supervision
  • Sets up and operates Haas ST-20 lathe, Haas mills, Kitamura 5-axis machining center with minimal supervision
  • Takes precise measurements and selects appropriate machines for processes
  • Uses precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, fixtures, and gauges
  • Accurately measures dimensions within print tolerance
  • Makes minor G&M code edits (offsets, tooling, macros)
  • Identifies and resolves common machining issues independently
  • Follows all safe work practices & safety rules
  • Mentors entry-level machinists in machine operation and basic techniques
  • Communicates setup and troubleshooting information effectively
  • Suggests improvements to processes and productivity
  • Carries out other duties as required by the Model Shop Manager
  • Follow Business Technology policies to protect sensitive data and reduce information security occurrences.
