About The Position

Under limited supervision, sets up and operates two or more production machines on complicated production work involving difficult operations, close tolerances, and difficult set-ups of parts. Has basic understanding when working with various metal properties. Requires the ability to follow written instructions and read blue-print specifications. This position is located at Emerson/Rosemount Facility.

Requirements

  • 1 year as Machinist I (internal candidates)
  • For external candidates, 2+ years machining experience required
  • Able to read, interpret, and follow written, visual, drawings and verbal work instructions.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform complex setups and capable of machining complicated parts on two or more machines
  • Demonstrates ability to read, understand and edit man readables and programs
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate clearly and work well with all members of a team
  • Demonstrates ability to follow all company policies and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Independently identifies work to be done. Proactively flexes into other areas to maximize overall product flow and efficiency.
  • Works on assignments that are frequently non-routine and moderately complex in nature, where judgment is required in resolving problems and making recommendations. Refers only the most complex issues to higher levels.
  • Ensures product and process quality is maintained through visual inspection, measuring instruments, and testing as required. Assures that all details of a task are accomplished properly. Takes initiative to troubleshoot and problem solve.
  • Bring concerns about product and process quality and makes recommendations to address the concern.
  • Thoroughly documents all product travelers ensuring proper quality documentation as applicable to a given process. Enters data and performs computer transactions as appropriate.
  • Actively participates in Improvement Teams, Lean Manufacturing, 5s + 1 efforts to help improve quality, shorten cycle times, and reduce manufacturing costs.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on, and ensures calibration of, equipment, tools, and fixtures, as required.
  • Assists in the orientation and training of other machinists.
  • Takes initiative to rotate to the work that needs to be done, inter and/or intra departmentally as appropriate.
  • Keeps work areas clean and organized, in accordance with 5s+1 principles.
  • Knows and follows safety procedures as required in a specific operation. Identifies safety concerns and takes appropriate action.
  • Willingly shares skills and knowledge. Effectively gives and receives feedback. Sets good example for others, is a good role model.
  • Cooperatively performs additional duties as assigned.
  • Maintains good safety, attendance, and performance records.
