About The Position

This position involves learning and understanding the proper operation of a machine (Lathe/Mill) in an aerospace coatings environment. The machinist will be responsible for their assigned machine, reporting any issues to management. Key tasks include using precision measuring instruments, preparing parts for grinding, and operating machinery to meet specified requirements. Familiarity with the company's computer system for documentation and part tracking is also necessary.

Requirements

Must speak, read and write the English language
Should have basic computer software skills
Should be able to read blueprints
Must have H. S. Diploma or GED
Must have 3 to 10 years at ACI or related outside experience
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Nice To Haves

Prior work experience in conventional machining (Mill / Lathe) helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

Learn and understand the proper operation of your machine, reporting any problems to Management
Use and be able to read micrometers, and bore gauges
Center chucks on machine to accept parts for grinding
Machine indicate or "zero" parts on machines
Machine parts to the specifications called for on "Travelers"
Properly lubricate grinding equipment and parts
Operate a power hand tool to grind or buff parts
Use proper hearing, eye, and foot protection as required
Understand the potential exposures to metal filings and particles. Know and understand the dust recovery system and associated safety rules, and the potential exposures to grinding dust and dressing rock dust
Learn the proper use of the dot welding machine
