About The Position

This position is responsible for performing machine setups on various types of machinery including manual lathes, manual mills, CNC lathes, CNC mills, and Waterjet machines. The role requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings, maintain a clean and safe work environment, and perform preventative maintenance on machines. The machinist will also be responsible for verifying gage calibration, setting up machine fixturing, and utilizing CNC programming languages. A strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and the use of standard measuring tools is essential. The role also involves following instructions, assisting other departments when needed, and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 7+ years of experience working with manual and/or CNC machines.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of handheld measuring tools.
  • Knowledge of machine safety practices.
  • Understanding of job orders and production processes.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all engineering instructions, standard operating procedures, and departmental procedures.
  • Perform machine setups on manual lathes, manual mills, CNC lathes, CNC mills, and Waterjet machines for all programs and part types, including production and engineering parts, with minimal to no assistance.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings for all processes and programs.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, orderly condition and follow all prescribed safety regulations.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on machines in accordance with the company’s PM program.
  • Verify gage calibration to ensure measurement accuracy.
  • Set up and configure machine fixturing as required.
  • Utilize and maintain proficiency in CNC programming languages (G/M Codes and Mazatrol), including creating and editing programs.
  • Apply thorough knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Use standard measuring tools, including but not limited to micrometers (O.D. & I.D.), calipers, bore gages, protractors, height gages, micro-height gages, molds, optical comparators, and depth gages.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Assist other departments as needed with approval from management.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
