About The Position

As the Machining Maintenance Lead at Astemo Rock Spring, Inc., you will play a crucial role in leading and coordinating the maintenance team within the Machining department. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will oversee the maintenance activities, prioritize tasks, and ensure the reliability and optimal performance of our machining equipment. Your technical expertise, leadership skills, and problem-solving abilities will help drive the success of our machining operations. Astemo Rock Spring, Inc. was established in 2000 and supplies aluminum knuckles to Honda and Subaru. We are in Rock Spring, GA, and operate on 3 shifts with 400 employees. We have three main manufacturing departments, Casting, Machining, and Press Assembly. We are part of Astemo, Inc. with 90,000 employees worldwide.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in machining equipment maintenance or a similar role within the manufacturing industry.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to guide and develop a team within the Machining department.
  • Strong technical knowledge and ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues within the Machining department.
  • Proficiency in safety regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and quality control processes specific to the Machining department.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance, mentorship, and support in their daily maintenance activities within the Machining department.
  • Plan, schedule, and assign work orders to maintenance technicians, ensuring timely completion of maintenance tasks in coordination with production requirements.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on machining equipment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor to develop and implement maintenance strategies, programs, and best practices to optimize productivity and efficiency.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to improve machining processes, tooling, and equipment effectiveness.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and implement corrective actions, utilizing your technical skills in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines, procedures, and lockout/tagout protocols during all maintenance activities, fostering a safe work environment within the Machining department.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, including work orders, repairs performed, and spare parts inventory, ensuring comprehensive recordkeeping.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor to analyze and optimize machining operations, reducing cycle times, increasing yield, and improving quality.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machining performance, reduce costs, and minimize waste.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance teams to ensure that machining processes meet established quality standards.
  • Participate in capital equipment projects, providing input on maintenance requirements and equipment reliability.
  • Stay up to date with new technologies, best practices, and industry trends in machining maintenance through continuous learning and professional development opportunities.
  • When accomplishing tasks, remember to work toward meeting overall company goals established which include, OSHA safety compliance, ISO 14001 Environmental Compliance, Ethical & Legal compliance, Customer Quality, Production to Plan, and Delivery Performance.
  • Champion a strong safety culture, enforcing adherence to safety guidelines, procedures, and regulations always.
  • Support environmental initiatives and work towards minimizing the environmental impact of machining processes.
  • Monitor key performance metrics related to machining maintenance, including equipment uptime, mean time between failures (MTBF), mean time to repair (MTTR), and overall equipment efficiency (OEE).
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify areas for improvement and drive performance optimization.
  • Track and report on maintenance costs, labor utilization, and equipment reliability.
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Supervisor and other stakeholders to set targets and develop action plans based on key metrics.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine maintenance processes and practices to ensure alignment with performance goals.
